GIA Diamonds: The Origin of Grading Reports
In 1955, the GIA revolutionized the diamond industry with their Diamond Grading Report. Using their Diamond 4Cs and their International Diamond Grading System™, they provide a comprehensive analysis of diamonds in the D-Z color range.
The GIA Diamond Grading Report contains a comprehensive analysis of a diamond’s quality and lists information about the particular diamond’s shape and cutting style; measurements; carat weight; clarity, color, and cut grades; finish; fluorescence; and any other comments that are relevant to the diamond. While a number of other laboratories, such as EGL or IGI, issue similar reports, the GIA has established a reputation for providing the utmost precision and integrity when grading diamonds.
